IDENTIFIED: TEMISTOCLE FERNANDEZ CASAS

Conception Bay John Doe was identified as Temistocle Fernandez Casas in May 2024. Temistocle Fernandez Casas was from Cuba visiting Montréal on a tourist visa on April 1, 1992. It is unknown how his remains came to be in Newfoundland, but it is estimated he was murdered between 1994 - 1997 before his skull was found in 2001.

Circumstances of Finding:

The skull of the deceased was found off of Minerals Road in a wooded area by hikers. No other evidence of John Doe were found.

Based on isotope analysis, John Doe had lived in Southern Ontario, Southern Quebec, and/or Northeastern United States but lived in Newfoundland for the last 13 months leading up to his death. 

Circumstances of Death:

The man died as a result of homicide although no details about the homicide have been released at this time.
